A Small World
This piece was a learning exercise wherein the goal was to familiarize myself with 3d space, modeling, and the art of lighting that happens in betwen.
Made on the 3ds Max software, the piece is a series of 4 still frames of a globe with an entire city protruding from it.
Overall, it was a laborious process. I opted to giving the buildings their own unique design, complete with windows, ledges, chimneys, and other features.
The end result however, was worth it. I ended up with a nice little 3d model as well as a greater understanding (and appreciation) of the field in general.

The Urban Planet
Having had no prior experience with 3d, this project is arguably the most 'unique' one I've done so far. Since I was given the liberty of choosing what the end product would look like, I chose to create a globe covered in cityscape, complete with a financial district, factories, residential areas, a park, and also a cemetery.
Aside from the flying ships, the entire model is actually a single object, as oppposed to multiple solids melded together. It started off as nothing more than a sphere which I then extruded bit by bit to create the buildings, roads, and so forth.
